Rand Construction was the prime contractor and mechanical contractor for this project which consisted of HVAC, mechanical and electrical upgrades. Rand replaced the entire HVAC system including duct work, hot and chilled water piping, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air handlers, roof top units, chemical treatment, insulation, condenser water storage tanks, and DDC controls.

In addition to the HVAC mechanical work, Rand’s construction team replaced the entire electrical distribution system on the interior of the building and replaced all underground primary feeders from the KCP&L distribution pole to the main transformer and into the main switchgear. New electrical components included a conduit system, electrical feeders, switchgear, distribution panels, lighting and lighting controls, data and communication wiring, communication system, and wire mold and outlets for power and data.

Rand installed new windows throughout the school with new window coverings (shades) on the interior, including new security screens on the ground level windows.

Unique Features/Challenges:

This project was planned and executed to avoid disruption of school and classroom activities. A majority of the work was performed at night and on the weekends.
