Data Center and Office Renovation - Arsalon TechnologiesThis project consisted of construction services for property procurement, design assistance, range estimating and establishing a budget, Construction Management, coordination with financial lenders, and responsibility for construction. The contract amount represents the consultation fees and construction responsibilities. The total project value, including design, property procurement, and owner furnished equipment combine for a total project cost of more than $12M. The project consisted of taking an existing 33,000 square foot warehouse and office building and converting to a data center. Approximately 10,000 square feet is utilized for office and administrative space, with the remaining 23,000 square feet for data center, mechanical and electrical distribution. In addition a 10,000 mechanical yard is added to the exterior of the building and shielded by pre-cast walls to house chillers and generators. As Construction Manager for the project Rand Construction was responsible for acting as the owner's prime representative. This included design assistance, design review, providing budgets at each step of the design and offering design ideas which would provide the best solution for price, function, and constructability. The design of the project allows the owner to phase out the total build-out, with phase 1 consisting of the first bay of data floor space and the appropriate mechanical and electrical distribution for the first data bay. The UPS systems, cooling systems and switchgear are all designed and ordered in module format. As our role of Construction Manager, we were responsible for the selection of a project Architect. We selected and worked with Bell/Knott & Associates. |

Coal Tripper Conveyor Replacement - Eielson AFBThis project consisted of replacing an existing tripper belt conveyor with a new plow conveyor. The existing tripper conveyor, located at the top of the powerhouse, fed coal to the day bins via a manually positioned traveling tripper. Rand Construction removed the old system, including the dust collection system, and furnished and installed new plow conveyor, dust collection and dust suppression systems during a June-July shutdown period. The work involved on this project was complicated by limited access to the project area. The only access for removal and installation was on the north end of the building. Rand had to erect a platform on the side of the building approximately 80 feet in the air and install an overhead door to allow for removal and installation of the equipment. |

Generator Building Addition - MasterCardThis project consisted of constructing a new building to house generator and paralleling switchgear equipment to supply backup electrical power for MasterCard functions housed in an adjacent building. The building was constructed to resist wind loads up to 208mph. A new separate fuel pump room building was also constructed for the purpose of delivering fuel to the new generator building from the existing bulk fuel storage tanks. |
