Scope of Work: This project consisted of installing a new sludge centrifuge with associated chutes, pumps, tankage, instruments and stainless steel piping. The new equipment was installed inside an existing waste water treatment facility. The existing facility was in operation the entire time the new installation was proceeding. The piping tie-ins and equipment installation had to be coordinated with the plant operations so as not to shut down the ongoing processing of sludge in the adjacent existing centrifuge. The utility tie-ins also had to be scheduled so the steam and condensate would not be off for more than several hours as the installation was done during the winter months and the steam and condensate were required for building heat.
The installation of the new centrifuge had to be scheduled and coordinated with the structural steel subcontractor who was contracted direct with the owner. The structural subcontractor fabricated and erected the new structural platform on which the new centrifuge was installed. The new centrifuge had to be brought thru existing roll-up doors, transported across new scales and hoisted vertically and then drifted horizontally to its final location on top of the new platform. After setting the discharge chutes and pumps were installed.
