Completed: March 2007
Scope of Work: This project consisted of removing the existing turbine low pressure control valve actuators, lube oil piping, and modifying the existing turbine control valves to accept the new high pressure actuators. The existing lube oil supply and return piping was removed back to the lube oil tank. These existing lines were then capped. A new high pressure hydraulic unit was installed with stainless steel supply piping, return and drain piping. This piping was installed from the HP unit to the actuators. ABB furnished Rand Construction with a hydraulic schematic and Rand designed the pipe routing and equipment placement such as filters, accumulators, stands, etc. Rand Construction's electrical subcontractor routed the wiring from the actuators to a marshalling box. The modifications to the front standard included removal of existing control parts, machining of adaptor flanges, and installation of new hydraulic components. This work also included the installation of custom blanking plates to seal the unused opening in the turbine control body. The top of the front standard had to be modified to accept the new actuator for the control valve.
