Process Piping and Equipment Installation
Rand's primary industrial focus for years has, and still is, the installation of utility and process piping systems. Our work has ranged from repairs and modifications of existing systems, to the installation of complete new chemical process units. Our piping expertise ranges from carbon steel, stainless steel and alloys such as Inconel and Alloy 20, to fibercast, TFE and glass lined pipe. The size of the piping has ranged from 1/2" to 96" in diameter, with pressure ratings from 150 PSI to 6,000 PSI. In conjunction with the piping we install all of the related equipment such as tanks, reactors, columns, conveyors, pumps, etc.
DCS Controls
We have specialized in upgrading analog control systems to digital control systems for both electrical and process companies. Our scopes of work have included the replacement of instruments and ancillary piping systems. The DCS upgrades for electric utilities have included upgrading the burner control system with the latest igniters, scanners, igniters, etc to meet NFPA; as well as modifications to the control rooms. These modifications normally include upgraded architectural features, control consoles, lighting, life safety and associated wiring.
Central Utility Facilities
Rand has worked on numerous projects which have focused on the client's central utility systems. These systems require upgrades in both piping and equipment as the systems become older and more efficient equipment becomes available.
The replacement of outdated equipment and systems has become very important due to the high cost of energy and the high cost of maintaining this equipment. Our work has ranged from replacing heat exchangers, to the design/build of a complete central steam facility. Projects involving the design/build of a complete facility include the furnishing of all design and installation drawings, installation of foundations, precast walls, roofing, piping, boilers, wiring and ancillary equipment.
Utility Boiler Upgrades
Our boiler projects have consisted of interior and exterior tube repairs and replacement, removal and replacement of the roof, arch and pendant tubes, and the replacement of burner corner tube panels and wind box sections. Our work has been performed under ASME code utilizing certified welders and inspected and documented per our Quality Control Program as required for an authorized stamp holder.
